Knight of Swords
Have you ever had one of those days where the chaos was at a peek, things were all going wrong, or you needed rescue someone right now? I try not to panic and let my anxiety get the best of me and just do the first thing that comes to mind. Sometimes in the middle of chaos we need to take a moment, think, calm our emotions. But that isn’t always easy to do.
It is one of the blustery days. The winds are swirling, trees are swaying and your mind is whirling. It might not be an actual blustery day, but your life is currently in a bit of a whirlwind and you don’t know what to do next. Do you rush in and take action without thought or do you hold back and realize that things might be just too chaotic to make the right decisions? Is there a gut reaction to jump right in OR pull back the reins and calm down a minute so you don’t make a big mistake? For our Knight of Swords it could be either.
There are several cards that can have opposite meanings depending on the answer and the other cards surrounding the Knight in a multiple card spread. But let’s look closer at what is going on with our Knight. He is on his white stead, using his intellectual energy to determine the best course. The wind is blowing the horses mane, the trees and the clouds as well has the flame on the knight’s helmet. The birds in the corner are being buffeted in all directions. It takes effort to ride in the wind, to keep the course on a windy day. This is a knight of action. The question is what action? Is he acting impulsively and moving in too swiftly? Or does he need to charge ahead as quickly as he can? I think when you get the card in a reading you will intuitively know which it is.
Where do you need to stop and think before you say something you shouldn’t? Where do you need to take action even though it will take extra effort in the wind? Where are your thoughts swirling to fast and are unfocused?
This Knight needs our intuition to decide his best course. So take the urgency of this Knight and sit with the situation for a minute. Rein in or full speed ahead? Look at the situation and the other cards; I feel you will know what is the best action to take. That is how we best use the Tarot as are guide---a prompt for our inner knowing.
